Overview
DataXchange can be configured to send an email or a text message based notification on results of expressions. Email templates are created independently and then assigned as a target for an expression. When the expression evaluates to True an alert notification is sent.
Templates are independent of the DataXchange Service and independent of equipment allowing the templates to be used in a variety of situations. Templates can be created with the variables that are used in expressions allowing the template to be dynamic and contain information such as downtime codes and equipment names in the subject or body of the alert.
Templates are created by pressing the Email button in the Template group on the DataXchange tab. To create a new template press the Add button and specify a name for the Template. Select the users that should receive the alerts. When defining Users they can have two email addresses assigned to them, a company based email and an external email. If both have been assigned then two email addresses will be appear for the user in the list.
Once the cursor has been placed in the Subject or the Body sections the buttons in the toolbar become enabled allowing variables to be used in the email template if desired. Press the Enter button to save the template.
Now create an expression that will be used to trigger the alert. Then, when assigning the expressions select Email from the list of configured Targets and then select the appropriate email template from the list of available templates.
